Job summary

GFL Environmental is seeking a helper to join its waste collection team. You will collect solid waste and recyclables from customers, load and sort materials, and assist the driver with safe operations on route. The role requires basic physical ability and adherence to safety protocols.

Starting pay is $18/hour with weekly overtime. Benefits include medical/dental/vision, an HSA with employer contribution and match, a 401(k) with match, paid holidays, and an EAP with counseling services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is desired but not required.
• 1–3 months related experience and/or training desired but not required.
• Valid driver’s license preferred but not required.
• Must meet safety-sensitive criteria according to company standards.

Responsibilities

• Collect solid waste/recyclables from customer premises or curbside.
• Load solid waste into rear or side of collection vehicle.
• Sort recyclables and deposit materials into appropriate compartments.
• Assist driver in backing up and maneuvering in close spaces.
• Operate equipment on truck to compact trash/materials.
• Audit waste collection vehicle for proper equipment before leaving branch.
