Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. seeks a Helper to safely assist drivers in collecting solid waste from residential customers. You will load materials, help with backing and maneuvering, and sort recyclables into the truck’s compartments. Emphasis on safety, PPE, and proper reporting of issues is essential.

You will work on a physical route environment, with exposure to outdoor conditions and varying weather. This role requires reliability and a readiness to learn on the job.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• 1–3 months related experience or training desired but not required.
• Valid driver’s license preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Collect solid waste from customer premises and curbside.
• Load waste into rear or side of collection vehicle.
• Assist driver with backing and maneuvering in tight spaces.
• Sort recyclables into appropriate compartments in the truck.
• Operate truck equipment to compact trash/materials.
• Audit vehicle equipment before leaving the branch (broom, shovel, etc.).
• Report customer-related problems to the driver promptly.
• Follow safety rules and wear required PPE at all times.
