Job summary

GFL Environmental is seeking a Helper to assist drivers in collecting solid waste and recyclables from customer premises and curbside. Responsibilities include loading materials, sorting recyclables, and assisting with safe vehicle operation.

The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and reliability as part of a fast-paced waste management team. A high school diploma is preferred; related experience is a plus, and a valid driver's license is beneficial.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or desired.
• 1–3 months related experience and/or training desired, but not required.
• Valid driver’s license preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Collect solid waste/recyclable materials from customer premises and/or curbside.
• Load solid waste into the rear or side of the waste collection vehicle.
• Sort recyclables and deposit materials into appropriate compartments in the collection truck.
• Assist driver in safe operation of the vehicle by guiding backing and maneuvering in tight spaces.
• Operate equipment on truck to compact trash/materials in the vehicle.
• Report customer-related problems to the driver immediately.
