Washbay Tech in Fairbanks, AK is seeking a Wash Bay Technician to support a team of mechanics, with primary duties including steam cleaning vehicles and equipment entering the wash bay. You will also perform basic maintenance on support equipment and light duty vehicles.

You will follow HSSE policies, maintain housekeeping, and assist mechanics, while ensuring safe operation and parking of yard equipment. A high school diploma or GED and ~1 year in small tool or automotive repair are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• One year of experience in small tool or automotive repair, or a related field preferred.
• Basic knowledge of equipment, truck, and trailer design and functionality preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate safely and in compliance with HSSE policies and procedures.

Position Profile

The Wash Bay Technician is primarily responsible for providing support to a team of mechanics, giving priority to steam cleaning all vehicles and equipment that pass through the wash bay. The incumbent will also perform some basic maintenance and repairs on support equipment and light duty vehicles.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. In addition to using computerized diagnostic equipment, mechanics use a variety of power and machine tools, such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, grinding machines, and welding equipment. Hand tools, including pliers, socket and ratchets, and screwdrivers, are also commonly used. The employee is often exposed to a variety of extreme weather and temperature conditions and fluctuations, such as cold, heat, snow, wind, rain, etc.
