Job summary

Capgemini is recruiting a Warranty Analysis Engineer for automotive powertrain and driveline systems in Auburn Hills, MI. This on-site contract role centers on warranty failure analysis, root-cause investigations, and corrective actions across vehicle subsystems.

You will collaborate with quality, manufacturing, service, suppliers, and product engineering to reduce warranty costs and enhance customer satisfaction. In-depth exposure to DFMEA/PFMEA and APQP/PPAP processes is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Automotive engineering or related field.
• 5–10 years in automotive warranty analysis, product/quality engineering, or failure analysis.
• Strong understanding of automotive mechanical systems and fundamental engineering concepts.
• Experience with teardown analysis and component diagnostics.
• Proficiency reading CAD drawings and engineering specifications.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed warranty part analysis and failure investigations for returned field components.
• Conduct root cause analysis using 8D, Fishbone, 5 Why, FMEA, and fault tree analysis.
• Analyze failed components related to transmission, gearboxes, axles and driveline systems.
• Support disposition activities including teardown analysis, repairability assessment, scrap/rework recommendations, and containment actions.
• Collaborate with design engineering, supplier quality, manufacturing, and service teams to drive corrective actions.
• Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, material specs, tolerances, and validation reports.
• Use warranty databases and analytics tools to identify trends and reliability concerns.
• Prepare technical reports and failure summaries for leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Support supplier discussions and technical reviews for quality improvement.
• Participate in continuous improvement programs focused on warranty reduction and product reliability.
• Ensure compliance with APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, and PFMEA.
