Job summary

Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company in Simsbury, CT seeks an experienced Product Development Lead to guide a small development team responsible for Warfighter & Warhead products. You will drive design, qualification, and milestones, mentored by the Energetics Product Development Manager.

The role requires a BS/MS in engineering, 5+ years in product design & development, and DoD/ITAR familiarity or ability to obtain clearance. On-site position with strong leadership and process discipline.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in engineering discipline (Mechanical preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of product design & development experience.
• Experience in problem solving/root cause analysis, leading multi-function technical teams, project management, technical writing and cost estimating.
• Ability to interpret and analyze mechanical specifications and data.
• Knowledge of explosive material ordnance devices and/or missile/launch vehicle systems; manufacturing process experience.
• U.S. DoD security clearance or ability to obtain; work on DoD and ITAR restricted products.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design, development, and qualification of multiple projects; ensure high quality products meet schedule and budget constraints.
• Accountable for team completion and quality of development milestone gates per procedures.
• Drive engineering excellence with rigorous processes, RCCA, problem solving, and knowledge management.
• Develop and maintain a high performing, diverse, and flexible team.
• Mentor and train team members, provide development opportunities and close gaps.
• Gather and analyze data to identify and resolve systemic issues within the team.
• Improve standard work, processes, and procedures; support projects across technical requirements, design, risk assessments, and cost reviews.
• Support customer interface activities, problem resolution, and morale as a member of EBAD management.
