Job summary

Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company (EBAD) in Simsbury, CT seeks a Product Development Lead to guide a team of 3–5 Development Engineers within the Warfighter & Warhead Product Development Team.

You will oversee design, development, and qualification of projects, ensuring high quality products meet schedule and budget constraints while advancing rigorous engineering practices and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in engineering discipline.
• Mechanical is the preferred engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of product design & development experience.
• Experience in problem solving/root cause analysis, leadership of multi-function technical teams, project management, technical writing and cost estimating.
• Ability to interpret and analyze mechanical specifications and data.
• Knowledge of explosive material ordnance devices and/or missile/launch vehicle systems and manufacturing processes.
• Must be able to obtain a DoD security clearance and work on DoD/ITAR restricted products.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the design, development, and qualification of multiple projects within the development engineering team.
• Hold the team accountable for designing high quality products within schedule and budget constraints.
• Ensure completion and quality of development milestone gates.
• Drive engineering processes, standards, and techniques.
• Mentor and develop team members to build capabilities.
• Provide training opportunities to stretch team members and close gaps.
• Gather and analyze data to identify and resolve systemic issues.
• Drive improvements in standard work, processes and procedures.
• Support customer interface and problem resolution as part of EBAD management.
