Job summary

Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company in Simsbury, CT seeks a Product Development Lead to manage a 3–5 engineer team responsible for the design, development, and qualification of multiple projects within the Warfighter & Warhead portfolio.

The role requires leadership, rigorous engineering practices, and collaboration with EBAD management to drive program success, training, and continuous improvement on cost and schedule targets.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in engineering (Mechanical preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of product design & development experience.
• Experience includes problem solving/root cause analysis, leadership of multi-function technical teams, project management, technical writing and cost estimating.
• Ability to interpret and analyze mechanical specifications and data.
• Knowledge of explosive material ordnance devices and/or missile/launch vehicle systems; manufacturing experience.
• Must be able to obtain DoD security clearance and work on DoD/ITAR restricted products.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design, development, and qualification of multiple projects within the development engineering team, ensuring high quality products that meet schedule and budget.
• Accountable for team completion and quality of development milestone gates.
• Drive engineering success by enforcing rigorous processes, RCCA, problem solving, and knowledge management.
• Develop and maintain a high performing, diverse, and flexible team that meets customer project needs now and in the future.
• Mentor, train, and develop team members; provide training opportunities to stretch capabilities and close gaps.
• Gather and analyze data to identify and resolve systemic issues faced by the team.
• Establish, measure, and drive improvements in standard work, processes, and procedures for team success; support project execution across technical reviews, design, testing, risk, and cost reviews.
• Support customer interface activities, problem resolution, and morale as a member of EBAD management.
