Job summary

AMI Metals, Inc. is seeking a full-time Packer to prepare customer orders for shipping. The role involves building skids or boxes, using various packing tools, and following AMI’s packing and preservation procedures.

Responsibilities include performing quality inspections, marking shipments, and maintaining equipment with a clean work area. Forklift certification is preferred and some irregular hours may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Forklift certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare customer orders for shipping and build skids/boxes.
• Operate crosscut saw, miter saw, nail gun, staple gun and banding equipment as needed.
• Follow packing and preservation policies and procedures, and perform quality inspections.
• Mark shipments and stencil shipping information as required.
• Maintain equipment and keep records of maintenance; keep work area clean.
• Adhere to safety and quality policies and participate in continuous improvement meetings.

Job Function

POSITION SUMMARY: The Packer prepares customer orders for shipping.Builds skids or boxes for packing and shipping of all orders.Uses crosscut saw, miter saw, nail gun, staple gun and banding equipment as needed.Follows AMI packing and preservation policies and procedures.Performs quality inspections on orders to maintain 100% quality standards.Marks all shipments in accordance with customer and AMI procedures and requirements.Properly stencils shipping information as required.Provides maintenance and keeps records of Maintenance on all equipment assigned.Maintains clean work area.Follows all company safety and quality policies and procedures.Participates in TQM and SPC meetings.

Required Skills

• EDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• REASONING ABILITY: Carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• CERTIFICATES: Forklift Certification, Preferred.
• OTHER ABILITIES: Ability to work irregular hours.

Compensation Range

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $23.16/Hr. - USD $23.16/Hr. depending on experience, qualifications, and location.
