Metals USA Flat Rolled Group is seeking a Packager for our Wooster, OH location. The role involves receiving, stocking and packaging products, using strapping, measuring, and cranes. You will work under general supervision, perform duties safely, maintain inventory, and ensure accurate packaging.

Qualifications

• High School or GED Equivalent.
• Basic Mathematics skills.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Understand safety rules and OSHA standards.
• Read measuring tape and caliper.
• Lift/carry 50 lbs. and work with heavy equipment.
• Warehouse experience preferred.
• Forklift and overhead crane experience.

Responsibilities

• Package bundles by applying metal strapping around material.
• Place paper corner protectors per specifications.
• Use packaging equipment to tighten strapping.
• Check parts to ensure correct size produced.
• Operate material handling equipment such as cranes, forklifts, side loaders.
• Move and stock products and materials into storage areas.
• Interpret material requirements at work centers.
• Maintain neat, organized inventory and clean warehouse.
• Identify defects and package designated items.

Essential Functions

• Package bundles by placing metal strapping around the width and length of the material
• Properly place paper corner protectors neatly to part specifications, to protect the customers' product
• Use packaging equipment to tighten the metal strapping around bundles
• Check parts to ensure correct size was produced
• Responsible for the use of material handling equipment such as cranes, forklifts, and side loaders.
• Accurately move and stock products, materials, and various supplies into and out of designated storage areas.
• Interpret and anticipate material requirement needs at work centers
• Ensure that all inventory is maintained in a neat and organized condition and that the warehouse area remains clean and orderly
• Can identify defects and package the designated items

Required & Preferred Qualifications
