Job summary

Metals USA Flat Rolled Group is seeking a Packager in Wooster, OH to receive, stock, and package metal products using tape, corner protectors and packaging equipment. The position requires reading English, basic math skills, and the ability to lift 50 lbs. Forklift and overhead crane experience are preferred to move heavy items safely.

Responsibilities

• Package bundles by applying metal strapping around width and length.
• Place paper corner protectors per specifications to protect product.
• Use packaging equipment to tighten strapping securely.
• Check parts for correct size and quality.
• Move and stock products and supplies using material handling equipment.
• Maintain neat, organized inventory and warehouse area.

Essential Functions

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

• Package bundles by placing metal strapping around the width and length of the material
• Properly place paper corner protectors neatly to part specifications, to protect the customers' product
• Use packaging equipment to tighten the metal strapping around bundles
• Check parts to ensure correct size was produced
• Responsible for the use of material handling equipment such as cranes, forklifts, and side loaders.
• Accurately move and stock products , materials , and various supplies into and out of designated storage areas.
• Interpret and anticipate material requirement needs at work centers
• Ensure that all inventory is maintained in a neat and organized condition and that the warehouse area remains clean and orderly
• Can identify defects and package the designated items
