Job summary

Metals USA Flat Rolled Group in Wooster, OH is hiring a Packager to support our packaging team. The role involves packing bundles, securing with strapping, and ensuring products meet specifications. You will operate packaging equipment and material handling gear such as cranes and forklifts.

Ideal candidates have basic math skills, ability to read English, and experience with measuring tools. OSHA rules compliance and attention to detail are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High School or GED Equivalent.
• Basic Mathematics skills.
• Ability to read and write English Language.
• Ability to understand and use Safety Rules and Procedures as well as OSHA standards and regulations.
• Must exercise a reasonable degree of judgment and follow company policies.
• Must be able to read measuring tape and caliper.
• Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs.
• Attention to detail.
• Warehouse experience preferred.
• Must have forklift and overhead crane experience.
• Experience working with Heavy Equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Package bundles by placing metal strapping around the width and length of the material.
• Properly place paper corner protectors neatly to part specifications, to protect the customers' product.
• Use packaging equipment to tighten the metal strapping around bundles.
• Check parts to ensure correct size was produced.
• Responsible for the use of material handling equipment such as cranes, forklifts, and side loaders.
• Accurately move and stock products, materials, and various supplies into and out of designated storage areas.
• Interpret and anticipate material requirement needs at work centers.
• Ensure that all inventory is maintained in a neat and organized condition and that the warehouse area remains clean and orderly.
• Can identify defects and package the designated items.
