Summary

This position supports the Ryder Continuous Improvement culture across the operation by actively applying continuous improvement methods to support new and existing operations. The Engineer will identify and drive change within the operation through data-driven CI, Engineering, and Automation efforts to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The role involves leveraging data analytics, engineering methodologies, and lean tools to identify and eliminate root causes. The Engineer will collaborate with employees at all levels and functions, reporting to the Lead Engineer or CI Manager, and aligning closely with Operations Management.

Essential Functions

1. Collect and analyze data; map and document processes; identify gaps; recommend and implement improvements; develop and execute continuous improvement plans to enhance safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development.
2. Manage CI and engineering projects; support go-live and certifications; identify automation opportunities; interact with management and customers.
3. Develop competency in engineering methods, lean tools, and standards; coach employees in CI, QA, and lean principles; apply methodologies like product slotting, labor studies, flow optimization, data profiling, and resource modeling.
4. Facilitate Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen Events; coach process owners in lean methods to achieve operational excellence.
5. Provide data reports and measure progress; recommend inventory and supply chain strategies.

Additional Responsibilities

• Design and monitor QMS; implement corrective actions; support compliance and certification; perform QA functions for start-ups or expansions; perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain with 5+ years’ experience, or Master’s degree with 3+ years’ experience; MBA candidates should have an undergraduate in Engineering.
• Expertise in MS Office; intermediate data visualization and database programming skills preferred
• Experience with lean methodologies, warehouse design, automation, and transportation tools; certifications like Lean Six Sigma, cPMP, ISO/QMS are preferred
