Summary
This position supports Ryder's Continuous Improvement culture by applying continuous improvement methods to enhance operations. The Engineer will identify and implement changes through data-driven CI, engineering, and automation efforts to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The role involves leveraging data analytics, engineering methodologies, and lean tools to identify root causes and eliminate issues. The engineer will collaborate across all levels of the organization and report to the Lead Engineer or CI Manager.
Essential Functions
- Collect data, perform statistical analysis, map and document processes. Identify process gaps, recommend and implement improvements, and develop continuous improvement plans to enhance safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development.
- Manage CI and engineering projects to improve business results, support certifications, and identify automation opportunities. Collaborate with operations management and customers.
- Develop competency in engineering methods, lean tools, and quality standards. Coach employees on CI, QA, and lean principles. Apply methodologies like product slotting, labor standards, layout optimization, data analysis, and resource modeling.
- Facilitate and execute value stream mapping and Kaizen events. Coach process owners to use lean methods for operational excellence.
- Provide regular data reports to track progress and make recommendations on inventory and supply chain strategies.
Additional Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and monitor the QMS based on standards.
- Implement corrective action systems and support regulatory compliance.
- Perform QA functions for startups or expansions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities

- Experience with lean methods, engineering tools, and warehouse design software (AutoCAD, Slot3D, MOST, Manhattan WMS, Labor Mgt Systems).
- Knowledge of warehouse operations, automation solutions, and transportation design tools.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain with 5+ years of related experience, or Master’s degree with 3+ years. If MBA, undergrad should be in Engineering.
- Expertise in MS Office; proficiency in data visualization and database programming preferred.
- Experience with lean systems, engineering functions, and warehouse design tools preferred.
- Certifications like Lean Six Sigma, PMP, ISO/QMS, and others are a plus.

Compensation
Salary range: $90,000 - $100,000. Bonuses and incentives may apply based on performance and market factors.
