Job summary

US Foods Houston is hiring for warehouse team members on multiple night shift schedules. The role involves safely selecting customer orders, building pallets, and operating an electric pallet jack.

Starting pay is $23.21 per hour with incentive opportunities; day-one benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and life insurance. Flex scheduling aims to support work-life balance, with 4-, 5-, or 3-day weeks depending on availability.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Safely and accurately pick customer orders.
• Build and wrap pallets to meet weekly productivity targets.
• Perform pre-shift equipment checks and operate an electric pallet.
• Move products from racks to pallets as directed by order software.
• Verify correct product and ensure it is damage-free.
• Deliver palletized orders to the correct dock and shrink-wrap.
• Keep aisles clear and return pallet jacks to charging area.

Location: Houston, TX

Current schedule is a 4 day work week. Sunday nights through Friday nights with 2 consecutive days off. Start time is 5:00pm until completion. With our Flex Scheduling options, a true work-life balance is within reach at US Foods! Multiple full-time night shift/schedules available, options will include 5-day, 4-day and 3-day workweeks. Assigned flex schedule at orientation based on availability.

Main Ingredients of the Job

• Safely and accurately select customer orders.
• Build and wrap pallets to meet weekly standards for productivity and accuracy.
• Perform pre-shift equipment checks and safely operate an electric pallet.
• Carefully move products from racks to pallets directed by order selecting software and equipment.
• Validate that correct product has been selected and is damage free.
• Efficiently deliver products to correct dock area and shrink wraps palletized orders.
• Team up to clear aisles of debris, stacks empty pallets from slots in aisle and return pallet jacks to charging area.

Physical Requirements

• Comfortable working in a multi-temperature environment ranging from -5 degrees to over 100 degrees required.
• Ability to lift/carry/push/pull 20 to 80+ lbs. of product repetitively; moving 1,000+ cases of product during each shift required.

What You Bring to the Table

• Must be able to read and communicate in the English language such as to attend trainings, hold conversations, receive safety and job-related coaching, read labels, and enter information on reports if needed.
• Able to work 8+ hour night shifts, typically Sunday - Thursday.
• At times weekends and holidays will required.
• Recent experience (within past 6 months) in high endurance or highly physical activity or role preferred e.g. lifting/transferring patients, sports/fitness, farming, construction work, etc.
• Experience selecting large scale orders in a warehouse or distribution center environment preferred.
• Experience operating motorized pallet jack or similar equipment preferred.

Compensation

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is $23.21 and $43.32 per hour. This role may also receive overtime compensation, incentive compensation, shift differential. Benefits for this role may include health insurance, pre-tax spending accounts, retirement benefits, paid time off, short-term and long-term disability, employee stock purchase plan, and life insurance.
