Job summary

Commercial Metals in Louisiana is seeking a hands-on teammate to support materials handling in our fast-paced facility. You will sort, stack, and ship items; operate a forklift; and assist customers while maintaining a safe, organized work area.

The role requires at least 1 year in construction or manufacturing, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and good communication. We offer Day 1 benefits, PTO, 401(k) match, and growth opportunities within a Fortune 500 company.

Responsibilities

• Sort and place materials on racks according to product code.

• Assist in unloading and loading customers.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

What You\'ll Do

• Sort and place materials and items on racks, shelves or bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color or product code
• Operate a forklift to move material and supplies as required
• Perform a wide range of physical activities which include pulling, pushing, reaching, bending over, climbing, and kneeling
• Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders in appropriate shipping/holding area
• Assist in unloading and loading customers
• Assist in performing inventory on material
• Assist in filling work/shipping orders
• Maintain work area and location organized and clean for orderliness at all times
• Other duties as assigned in general support of the organization

What You\'ll Need

• Minimum 1 year experience in construction and or manufacturing environment
• Ability to operate a forklift
• Ability to communicate with customers, employees, and business leaders
• Great organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
• Ability to work in uncontrolled climate environment and in the elements
• Able to operate hand tools
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time

Your Education

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
