Job summary

Iron Mountain UK is seeking a proactive Warehouse Operative to join our site in Lutterworth. You will perform receiving, storage, picking, packing and dispatching of goods, while safely loading and unloading trailers and containers and moving pallets to optimise space.

You will work with warehouse systems, observe health and safety policies, and collaborate with transport and operations teams to meet targets and customer service standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in a warehouse and logistics environment.
• Knowledge of yard movements and vehicle maneuvering.
• Experience with voice picking or similar warehouse systems is beneficial.

Your Role in Our Mission

• Carry out a variety of warehouse duties, including receiving, storing, picking, packing, and dispatching goods.
• Load and unload trailers and containers safely and efficiently.
• Move, stack, and organise pallets within the warehouse to maximise storage capacity.
• Operate warehouse equipment where authorised and in accordance with site procedures.
• Perform stock counts and support inventory management activities.
• Use warehouse systems and equipment, including voice picking technology where applicable.
• Ensure all items are packed, labelled, and prepared accurately for shipment.
• Safely shunt trailers, containers, and vehicles around the yard and between loading bays in line with site procedures.
• Carry out pre-use vehicle and trailer safety checks and report any defects promptly.
• Liaise with warehouse, transport, and operational teams to ensure trailers are positioned according to operational requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe warehouse and yard environment.
• Comply with all health and safety policies, site rules, and company procedures at all times.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve operational targets and customer service standards.

Valued Skills and Experience

• Previous experience in a warehouse and logistics environment.
• Experience as a yard shunter or in a similar vehicle movement role.
• A valid shunter qualification, HGV licence (where required), or relevant experience in moving trailers safely within a yard environment.
• MHE licences (such as Reach, PPT, LLOP, Bendi, VNA, or Counterbalance) are desirable.
• A good understanding of warehouse health and safety practices.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Flexibility to undertake both warehouse and yard duties as business needs require.
