Job summary

Penske Logistics LLC in Bolingbrook, IL seeks an Operations Supervisor to lead the hourly workforce, supervise warehousing tasks such as loading/unloading, cross-docking, and customer service while meeting cost objectives. The role includes hiring involvement, meetings, and corrective actions up to written warnings.

The position offers bonus eligibility based on individual and location performance, with hours Monday–Friday, 7:00 pm–4:00 am, and occasional off-shift requirements.

Qualifications

• 2 - 4 years related functional experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Strong written/oral communication skills and the ability to actively listen are required.
• Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required.
• Must demonstrate ownership & responsibility to run the operation with a sense of urgency.
• Must have ability to connect and build rapport/relationships with associates and external customers at all levels.
• Must have ability to work efficiently with time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to drive process improvement and lead change
• Experience with inventory management system preferred
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job

Responsibilities

• Train and develop supervisors and staff to meet customer objectives.
• Communicate specific, measurable performance standards.
• Interview hourly staff and advise on hiring.
• Monitor attendance and productivity; coach staff.
• Motivate teams through recognition.
• Oversee logistics ops: service, loading, dispatch, docs.
• Hold regular team meetings.
• Recommend changes to methods to boost productivity.
• Provide relief coverage during absences.
• Know site operating systems for compliance and exception handling.
• Maintain records and reports accurately.
• Ensure inventory accuracy and cost controls.
• Link decisions to profitability.
