Job summary

Stewart Moving & Storage is seeking a Warehouse Manager for our Portsmouth, VA location. The role oversees safe receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods, coordinating with Local Dispatch and communicating with inbound/outbound traffic to ensure smooth operations.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years in shipping/receiving, strong leadership, and experience with asset management systems, RF scanners, and forklift operation. A commitment to safety and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 2 years shipping/receiving experience in a distribution center environment required (2 years’ experience with HHG preferred).
• Ability to direct staff and manage labor productivity.
• Material handling equipment knowledge and the ability to operate a forklift
• Should have an understanding of computerized asset management systems, RF scanners, carrier shipping systems (e.g. Windfall system);
• Should have the ability to work in a diverse environment.
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide training to our team as well as corrective action when warranted.
• An achiever for safety in and out of our warehouse.
• Manages the workflow with other warehouse personnel.
• Conducts shift meetings; strong communicator.
• Schedules employees and is responsible inbound and outbound traffic.
• Assists with claims reduction.
• Identifies opportunities for improvement and ways to improve productivity.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
