Job summary

Michaels Stores is seeking a Department Manager at the New Lenox DC to lead and develop the distribution center team toward safety, accuracy, and on-time inventory control. You will provide direction and timely information to staff and leadership to drive operational success.

The role requires strong leadership, a high school diploma, and flexibility to work all shifts, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays. A college degree is preferred, with experience in WMS and LMS systems a plus.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and WMS applications.
• Experience with labor management systems (LMS) is preferred.
• Strong leadership and management skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good problem solving and change management skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including all days and shifts in support of business needs or special projects.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and executes plans to meet operational and organizational objectives.
• Ensures compliance with standard operating procedures and guidelines.
• Identifies and resolves production or communication issues.
• Implements processes for accurate inventory processing and on-time delivery to customers.
• Addresses safety risks and partners with Loss Prevention and leadership.
• Leads interviewing, onboarding, and training of team members; supports growth and development.
• Maintains engagement and trust, with open communication and a positive culture.
• Manages time with balance of on-floor presence and office work; participates in special projects.
