Job summary

General Motors Company is offering a 12-week Operations internship based in a GM Automotive Parts warehouse. The role supervises union-represented operations staff and supports the Customer Care and Aftersales team to ensure accurate and timely parts shipments.

You will learn lean manufacturing, standardized work, and continuous improvement while collaborating with supervisors, employees, and management to optimize warehouse processes and customer experiences.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, operations, supply chain, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructions to direct reports on course of action and standard work.
• Support daily warehouse operations under the direction of a General Supervisor.
• Learn to communicate standardized work, quality expectations, and company policies.
• Assist with training, coaching, development, and recognition for operations employees.
• Support assignment of work and monitor progress to ensure tasks are completed safely and on time.
• Identify operational issues, resolve problems, and reduce disruptions.
• Assist with administrative activities such as timekeeping and maintaining records.
• Complete a project that creates value for the warehouse operation and present findings to leadership.
