This position is responsible for overseeing the current Primary Warehouse operation, conducting warehousing assessments, collaborating with the Manager of the DC warehouse on overall operations, and managing the Request for Proposal (RFP) process, including the selection and recommendation of a Warehouse Management System (WMS) to executive management.
The DC Leader will own the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the WMS, ensuring smooth warehouse operations by managing system configurations, monitoring performance, providing user training, and troubleshooting issues to maximize efficiency. The role acts as the primary point of contact for all WMS-related activities within Albanese Confectionery Group (ACG). Candidates must have thorough knowledge of warehouse best practices and be able to educate and mentor staff in areas such as Receiving and Inspection, Material Handling and Put Away, Slotting, Storage and Inventory Control, Picking and Packing, Load Consolidation and Shipping, Shipment Documentation, and Labor Scheduling and Planning.
The role involves working across an integrated fulfillment process encompassing customer service, warehousing, transportation, and inventory management to translate strategies into a roadmap of specific initiatives across the supply chain. It includes managing full and partial pallet picking and put-away, scheduling labor and equipment, and synchronizing with outbound transportation to ensure timely shipments, utilizing drop trailer programs and customer routed freight.
The position requires internal customer support for demand planning, retail, logistics, manufacturing, procurement, and customer service. It is a key leadership role in warehouse safety and accountability.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate proven experience in WMS implementation within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry, proficiency with warehouse management software and data analysis tools, strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and leadership abilities. Knowledge of food safety regulations and experience managing teams are also essential.
Educational requirements include a bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related fields, with 5+ years of relevant experience preferred.
This is a full-time, mid-senior level management position based in Merrillville, IN, with a salary range of $65,000 to $80,000.
