Summary/Objective

The Warehouse / Logistics Supervisor is a hands on position that plans, organizes, and monitors the receiving, storage, and distribution of all items received either from suppliers or production shops. They must ensure a smooth and consistent operations so tools and parts distributed to proper customers in an effective and efficient manner. The position oversees and participates in the receiving, storage, and distribution of production and service parts materials; monitors and maintains the inventory, manages departmental budget to ensure expenditures are within guidelines; and supervises employees.

Summary/Objective

The Warehouse / Logistics Supervisor is a hands on position that plans, organizes, and monitors the receiving, storage, and distribution of all items received either from suppliers or production shops. They must ensure a smooth and consistent operations so tools and parts distributed to proper customers in an effective and efficient manner. The position oversees and participates in the receiving, storage, and distribution of production and service parts materials; monitors and maintains the inventory, manages departmental budget to ensure expenditures are within guidelines; and supervises employees.

  • Plans and coordinates work, trains and motivates, monitors and evaluates performance of warehouse and receiving associates; ensures their ability to safely operate material handling equipment to move materials to and from storage configurations; counsels, records and disciplines as necessary.
  • Maintains equipment and training programs to accomplish the warehouse and receiving mission in a safe, effective manner.
  • Provides appropriate equipment and racking to ensure the safe transport and storage of all materials.
  • Researches material handling equipment to ensure the most suitable equipment in terms of performance, safety, reliability and cost.
  • Oversees and participates in the loading and unloading of all materials into the department; ensures materials are staged for counting and inspection; ensures reports accurately report material shipped and received.
  • Resolves discrepancies with accounting and/or customer service regarding invoices, packing slips, and reports. Monitors the flow of paperwork and data entry from shipping and receiving to inventory control.
  • Evaluates deliveries, shipments and product levels to improve inventory control procedures.
  • Analyzes daily product and supply levels to anticipate inventory problems and shortages.
  • Oversees the supplying of materials to fabrication and stages material for assembly and sub-assembly.
  • Ensures materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety procedures. Oversees the rotation of inventories within the warehouse.
  • Monitors and measures receiving and warehouse performance for accuracy of locator, receiving reporting, movement and storage of material, and transfers to service parts.
  • Develops and recommends annual budget requirements for the warehouse and receiving department. Anticipates and requests funding for future personnel requirements. Anticipates and requests funding for future material handling equipment.
  • Develop team members to perform all duties with the warehouse organization.
  • Proposes strategies to reduce costs and improve procedures of supply chain logistics.
  • Monitors demand and analyzes data to anticipate future supply and logistical needs.
  • Operates material handling equipment such as fork lifts and pallet Jacks and occasionally works outside.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Education And Experience

  • High school diploma/GED and a minimum of 5 years of business experience will be considered. Associates degree or other higher education a plus.
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in warehousing, receiving, inventory control or materials management in a manufacturing environment,
  • 5 years of supervisory experience.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can occasionally be loud. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and reaching with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

This job operates in both a warehouse and a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Occasional Saturday’s may be required.

Travel

This position does not require travel.
