Job description

The Warehouse Lead is responsible for carrying out warehouse operations that include shipping and receiving, warehouse organization, sorting, inventory levels and leading a team of Material Handlers. The Warehouse Lead will require an enthusiastic attitude and have the ability to perform job duties at multiple levels from the Material Handler aspect and a management aspect. This position will also act as a back-up for the Warehouse Manager on an as needed basis.

Job Duties:
  1. Document shift notes in shift logbook to communicate with others.
  2. Safely operate a tow motor and transport materials to warehouse locations, production lines, etc.
  3. Assign & prioritize job tasks to warehouse employees according to shipment schedules.
  4. Train employees on safety, equipment, and workflow.
  5. Provide active, timely, and professional communication to the Warehouse Manager.
  6. Act as a mentor to Material Handlers and play a hands-on role in their development.
  7. Supervise the day to day execution of the job tasks in shipping and receiving.
  8. Supervise and provide support & guidance to temporary staff sorting retains & held product.
  9. Complete all required documentation on inbound and outbound documents.
  10. Read and understand general instructions and prepare written reports.
  11. Handle all products according to customer and employer procedures.
  12. Communicate and advise Warehouse Manager of operational issues that may involve other departments.
  13. Support the Warehouse Manager in monitoring daily inbound and outbound schedules to anticipate for resource planning, equipment and effective process flow.
  14. Assist in maintaining location control by reviewing location availability, capacity, and storage conditions.
  15. Monitor cycle counts to ensure the process is performed according to work instructions or procedures.
  16. Oversee accuracy of incoming and outgoing paperwork; ensure paperwork is processed promptly and correctly.
  17. Communicate daily warehouse activities and tasks between day and night shift.
  18. Complete monthly safety and security inspections.
  19. Maintain and report discrepancies found during receiving and order picking. i.e. SKU counts, SKU description, and physical item conditions.
  20. Ensure assignments meet established standards and deadlines.
  21. Authority to stop and/or modify work processes due to non-conformance and/or unsafe working conditions.
  22. Report all potential food safety concerns to the quality assurance manager.
  23. Perform all other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
  1. Minimum of high school diploma or GED is required.
  2. Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in overseeing warehouse operations and leading a team.
  3. Proficient in using Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook.
  4. Strong inventory control skills.
  5. Strong organizational, problem-solving and time management skills.
  6. Previous experience in operating a tow motor in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Excellent communication skills with the ability to read, write and communicate fluently in English.
  8. This position works in a manufacturing environment where machinery produces noise. Additionally, this position will use a computer, printer, telephone, walkie talkie and other office applications to effectively perform the job.
