The Warehouse Lead is responsible for carrying out warehouse operations that include shipping and receiving, warehouse organization, sorting, inventory levels and leading a team of Material Handlers. The Warehouse Lead will require an enthusiastic attitude and have the ability to perform job duties at multiple levels from the Material Handler aspect and a management aspect. This position will also act as a back-up for the Warehouse Manager on an as needed basis.
Job Duties:
- Document shift notes in shift logbook to communicate with others.
- Safely operate a tow motor and transport materials to warehouse locations, production lines, etc.
- Assign & prioritize job tasks to warehouse employees according to shipment schedules.
- Train employees on safety, equipment, and workflow.
- Provide active, timely, and professional communication to the Warehouse Manager.
- Act as a mentor to Material Handlers and play a hands-on role in their development.
- Supervise the day to day execution of the job tasks in shipping and receiving.
- Supervise and provide support & guidance to temporary staff sorting retains & held product.
- Complete all required documentation on inbound and outbound documents.
- Read and understand general instructions and prepare written reports.
- Handle all products according to customer and employer procedures.
- Communicate and advise Warehouse Manager of operational issues that may involve other departments.
- Support the Warehouse Manager in monitoring daily inbound and outbound schedules to anticipate for resource planning, equipment and effective process flow.
- Assist in maintaining location control by reviewing location availability, capacity, and storage conditions.
- Monitor cycle counts to ensure the process is performed according to work instructions or procedures.
- Oversee accuracy of incoming and outgoing paperwork; ensure paperwork is processed promptly and correctly.
- Communicate daily warehouse activities and tasks between day and night shift.
- Complete monthly safety and security inspections.
- Maintain and report discrepancies found during receiving and order picking. i.e. SKU counts, SKU description, and physical item conditions.
- Ensure assignments meet established standards and deadlines.
- Authority to stop and/or modify work processes due to non-conformance and/or unsafe working conditions.
- Report all potential food safety concerns to the quality assurance manager.
- Perform all other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of high school diploma or GED is required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in overseeing warehouse operations and leading a team.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Strong inventory control skills.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving and time management skills.
- Previous experience in operating a tow motor in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to read, write and communicate fluently in English.
- This position works in a manufacturing environment where machinery produces noise. Additionally, this position will use a computer, printer, telephone, walkie talkie and other office applications to effectively perform the job.
