Job summary

LifeScience Logistics LLC in Windsor, CT is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor to oversee daily warehouse operations, supervise personnel, manage safety training, and ensure on-time shipping and accurate inventory.

You will coordinate schedules, address issues, and back up the Operations Supervisor while maintaining a clean, compliant workplace and collaborating with customers to resolve discrepancies.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.

  • Must have reach truck experience.
  • Ability to be trained on 49-CFR DOT Dangerous Goods transport and IATA DG.
  • Attention to detail and organization.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Process and requisition supplies; delivering, and packaging materials for shipment.
  • Supervise and coordinate Warehouse Personnel and activities to meet goals.
  • Coordinate new and current employee training on safety, SOPs.
  • Collaborate with customers to resolve shipping, receiving and inventory discrepancies.
  • Prepare work schedules including rotations, training, breaks, overtime.
  • Address employee complaints ensuring policy compliance and resolution.
  • Assist Operations Supervisor in process improvement plans.
  • Assist in compiling productivity statistics for management.
  • Complete daily sanitation and end-shift paperwork.
  • Ensure warehouse is sanitary and safe; inform supervisor of problems.
  • Act as backup in absence of Operations Supervisor.
  • Review attendance records and address performance problems.

Job description

  • Processing and requisitioning of supplies; delivering, and packaging materials for shipment.
  • Supervise and coordinate Warehouse Personnel and activities which include the receipt, storage, to meet productivity goals, operating objectives, and warehouse maintenance functions.
  • Coordinate new and current employee training to include, but not limited to the following: personal safety, forklift safety, warehouse policy and procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers to resolve discrepancies related to shipping, receiving and inventory. Research errors and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare work schedules to include, but not limited to: work assignments/rotations, employee training, breaks, overtime assignments, and coverage for vacation/personal absences.
  • Address and review personnel complaints and grievances ensuring compliance with appropriate company procedures and they are resolved effectively and efficiently without preferences or judgment.
  • Assist Operations Supervisor in developing plans and programs for process improvement.
  • Assist Operations Supervisor in compiling productivity and reliability statistics for management.
  • Complete daily sanitation schedule and process end-shift paperwork.
  • Ensure that warehouse is maintained in a sanitary manner according to Company standards.
  • Consistently inform Operations Supervisor of potential problems and changes.
  • Act as backup in the absence of Operations Supervisor.
  • Review and approve employee time and attendance records.
  • Address performance problems through corrective action and dismissal.
Qualifications and Job Specifications
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalency required. Working on a college degree preferred.
  • Exhibits solid leadership ability.
  • Demonstrates sound problem-solving skills.
  • Displays dedication to a high standard or performance.
  • Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have reach truck experience.
  • Ability to be trained on 49-CFR DOT Dangerous Goods transportation and IATA Dangerous Goods air transportation.

Technical Expertise
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
  • Experience with warehouse operations, procedures, equipment, and terminology.
  • Use of terminology of requisitions, invoices, and other warehouse documents.
  • Operation of warehouse equipment including forklifts, hand trucks, and pallet jacks.
  • Experience utilizing WMS, RF Guns/Scanners.
Additional Employment Requirements
  • Must be able to successfully pass all preliminary employment requirements (i.e., background check and drug screen).
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
Physical/Mental/Visual Demands
  • Work is light to medium in nature with frequent walking to perform assigned tasks.
  • Occasional lifting of 25 - 50 lbs. is required.
Working Conditions
  • Activities occur both inside and outside.
  • Hazardous conditions may exist, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts.
  • Employee is subjected to extreme cold while supervising in the freezer.
Equipment Operated
  • Equipment: Laptop, Fax Machine, Copier, Desk Phone, and Cell Phone.
  • Systems: Outlook, Excel, and Word.
