Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking an entry-level Stores Attendant to assist the Material Services organization with material accountability, storeroom operations, and yard storage. The role progresses under supervision from assisting to independent work as knowledge grows.

The position covers receiving, issuing, packing, and shipping materials, plus operating forklifts and related equipment while following safety and environmental procedures. A strong work ethic is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least one year in inventory control/warehousing.
• Basic computer skills to use inventory management software such as Maximo; Excel/Word experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Issue material under proper authorization and process related records.
• Check received material for quantity, identity, breakage, and condition; process receipts.
• Record material returns, store usable items, and segregate non-usable items as scrap.
• Operate terminals/printers for a materials management system and other office equipment.
• Prepare and pack material for shipment or storage, including shipping documents.
