Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking an entry-level Material Services Assistant to support material accountability, storeroom operations, and storage yards. The role progresses from assisted duties to independent tasks under supervision, with training provided.

You will work under direct supervision, handling materials, performing record-keeping, and using Maximo and standard office tools. Physical work and safety compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have basic computer skills to use inventory management software such as Maximo.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word is preferred.
• State driver license is required; obtain CDL if required within six months or change role.
• Ability to operate material handling equipment including motorized forklifts and road vehicles.
• Ability to perform basic math functions.

Responsibilities

• Issue material under proper authorization and process related records.
• Check received material for quantity and condition; initiate material receipt records.
• Record material returned and place usable items in stock; sort non-usable items.
• Operate inventory management systems and related office equipment.
• Prepare and pack material for shipment or storage and prepare shipping papers.
• Move materials using material handling equipment as required.
• Assist in maintaining storage efficiency and inventory levels through cycle counts.
• Support supervisors and perform duties following safety rules and company practices.
