Job summary

Silgan Containers Mfg Corp is seeking a forklift operator to support production, shipping, and receiving by operating different forklift types. Starting wage is $25.34 per hour.

Responsibilities include loading trucks, moving materials, preparing goods for transfer, inventory support, and assisting with shipments. Must have forklift experience and be able to certify if not yet certified.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 6 months–2 years forklift driving experience in manufacturing/warehouse environment.
• Ability to pass forklift certification if not already certified.

Responsibilities

• Load trucks with finished sheet metal.
• Load cut sheet material onto platforms for dispatch through lines.
• Prepare finished goods for transfer to other departments.
• Remove coil loads and other materials from trucks on delivery.
• Transport unfinished and finished product throughout the plant to supply production lines with raw materials.
• Empty scrap tubs of metal waste.
• Assist in taking inventory and preparing orders for shipment as needed.

Essential Job Functions

• Load trucks with finished sheet metal
• Load cut sheet material onto platforms for dispatch through the manufacturing lines
• Prepare finished goods for transfer to other departments
• Remove coil loads and other materials from trucks as they are delivered
• Transport unfinished and finished product throughout the plant and supply the production lines with raw materials
• Empty scrap tubs of metal waste
• Assist in taking inventory and prepare orders for shipment as needed

Job Requirements

• Ability to demonstrate forklift driving experience and pass the certification test if not already certified

Experience/Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in a manufacturing facility
• 6 months-2 years of forklift driving work experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environment

Physical Requirements

• Ability to kneel, stoop, crawl, squat, and stand for extended period, while running machinery up to 12 hours
• Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds
