Job summary

Silgan Containers Mfg Corp seeks an Industrial Mechanic for the 6PM–6AM shift in Savage, MN. Starting pay is $31.46/hour with a $1.00 night-shift differential and overtime.

We offer quarterly bonuses and comprehensive medical, dental, vision, a 401(k) with match, 2 weeks vacation, 2 personal days and 10 holidays. Responsibilities include adjusting and repairing equipment, inspecting products, reading blueprints, using hand tools, and performing changeovers.

Qualifications

• Proven background in manufacturing or similar production environment.
• Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and drawings.
• Ability to use measuring hand tools to set up and maintain all can line machinery and associated equipment.
• Critical and logical thinking ability.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Possess ability for basic computer skills.
• Ability to work with little supervision.
• Able to work at heights including use of steps and ladders.

Responsibilities

• Adjusts and/or repair all equipment in the department.

Experience / Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Journeyman Mechanic plus 2+ years as an Industrial Mechanic in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Requirements

• Lift truck driver's certification

Physical Requirements

• Ability to kneel, stoop, crawl, squat, and stand for extended periods, while running machinery up to 12 hours
• Must possess adequate upper body strength to repeatedly pull or push hand tools in order to make, repair, or adjust parts and/or machines
• Ability to lift 40 pounds
• Ability to be in constant motion about 50-70% of shifts
