Job summary

Silgan Containers is seeking a full-time production worker to operate a can palletizer, package cans, and assist with line maintenance on a 6:00pm–6:00am schedule. The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs, reading blueprints, and using basic measuring tools. Forklift certification is required or obtainable.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, strong communication skills, and a willingness to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with occasional overtime.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to use basic mechanical tools to include measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, etc.).
• Ability to read, understand and work from blueprints and technical manuals.
• Able to get forklift certified.
• Able to work 6:00pm-6:00am on a 2-2-3 schedule.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work up to 12 hours a day.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety regulations and directives.
• Package product to required specifications.
• Operate can palletizer and package cans into pallets and boxes.
• Place sleeves in cartons or snakewrap on pallet as required.
• Manually load shells into equipment as required.
• Complete forms and reports manually and electronically.
• Assist Line Mechanics in basic repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Operate forklift to assist Line Mechanics and fill in for Shipper/Warehouser when required.
• Perform misc./utility duties as needed and maintain clean work area.
• Assist in training other employees and attend training sessions.
• Exercise proper care of company property.
• All other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Management.
