Position Summary

This position will be responsible for all samples department functions, including but not limited to database entry, pulling, gathering, and cutting tile, creating tile marketing boards, inventory, and ordering materials and shipping, with the overall goal of providing the highest possible quality and efficiency.

Essential Functions

• Arrange various tiles onto display boards following predetermined patterns and glue tile and mosaic pieces onto cardboard stock, building, and designing custom sample boards.
• Create tile marketing boards for shops and showrooms.
• Manage inventory, including cycle counts, mid-year, and fulfill-years, understanding inventory and ordering processes.
• Assist in managing all samples that come into the branch office; organize and oversee samples, inventory, tracking, receipt, and ordering.
• Support all entry and administration related to the LTL Freight software.
• Set up a sample work area, build racking and shelves, create labels, and maintain cleanliness and organization.
• Understand operations thoroughly and identify opportunities to increase efficiency.
• Obtain and ship new products promptly to deploy to branches.
• Ship samples back to vendors as needed.
• Serve as the primary contact for vendor sample inquiries.
• Operate forklifts, hoists, and cranes safely, following all safety policies.
• Process incoming orders accurately.
• Load and unload materials onto trucks safely and accurately.
• Stage material for customer viewing and loading.
• Inspect, count, and verify all materials/products received against paperwork; note discrepancies.
• Sign off on orders and cross-check with colleagues/supervisor.
• Secure slabs during loading/unloading.
• Tag and identify materials as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including handling pallets and waste.
• Ensure quality control by inspecting materials during loading and unloading.
• Follow all safety policies, including PPE usage.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Forklift experience required.
• 1 year of customer service experience preferred.
• Experience with LTL freight and freight software preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• Active, primarily standing (60%), with physical effort to push/pull/lift 50+ lbs.
• High-paced environment.
• Ability to work around noisy, vibrating, and hot equipment.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Flexible hours, including some Saturdays.
