Job summary

Goodwill NNE AmeriCorps, located in Portland, ME, seeks a VISTA to coordinate the Walking School Bus initiative, serving a diverse elementary community with multilingual families. You will foster relationships with local leaders, coordinate training and outreach, and ensure ongoing support for student well-being.

The role is full-time, based at the school and community sites, with opportunities to secure funding and partnerships to sustain the program.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to build relationships with families and community partners.
• Experience coordinating programs or volunteers is a plus.
• Ability to communicate across languages and cultures is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Steward relationships with neighborhood leaders and community stakeholders.
• Coordinate training programs, scheduling, and outreach for the walking school bus.
• Onsite at the school and neighborhood community centers to provide one-on-one connection with students, families, and neighbors.
• Secure program sustainability through funding opportunities and partnerships.
