Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience supporting VR/AR or MR environments.
  • Experience with enterprise hardware and software for VR.
  • Experience with high-end VR headsets (Varjo XR-4, Vision Pro, Quest 3).
  • Knowledge of VR tracking systems such as SteamVR Lighthouse or ART Optical Tracking.
  • Experience configuring VR accessories and peripherals.
  • Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on VR workstations, HMDs, and related equipment.
  • Test and validate software/firmware updates before production deployment.

Pay Range: $52.00 — $59.00 per hour (based on experience and internal equity)

Schedule: Full-time, contract; long-term opportunity

Work Type: 4 days onsite; 1 day remote

Position Summary

We are seeking a VR Support Technician to support enterprise Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR) environments used for engineering, product design, and immersive collaboration. This role is responsible for maintaining VR hardware and software, supporting end users, validating software and firmware updates, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring reliable operation of production VR systems.

The ideal candidate has experience supporting VR/AR technologies, enterprise hardware environments, and technical troubleshooting while working closely with engineering teams, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance on VR workstations, head-mounted displays (HMDs), tracking systems, and audiovisual equipment
  • Test and validate software and firmware updates before deployment into production environments
  • Deploy approved software, firmware, and configuration updates across enterprise VR systems
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, and tracking issues while performing root cause analysis
  • Escalate complex technical issues to internal engineering teams, suppliers, and external vendors
  • Support VR demonstrations, engineering reviews, testing sessions, and special events
  • Configure and maintain VR headsets, tracking devices, motion controllers, and supporting peripherals
  • Monitor system health, hardware performance, and operational readiness of VR environments
  • Maintain technical documentation including procedures, configurations, maintenance logs, troubleshooting guides, and deployment records
  • Collaborate with engineering, IT, suppliers, and business stakeholders to ensure reliable VR lab operations
  • Follow established support procedures, change management processes, and operational standards
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability and user experience

  • Knowledge of VR tracking systems including SteamVR Lighthouse, ART Optical Tracking, or comparable technologies
  • Experience configuring VR accessories including motion controllers, tracking pucks, and haptic devices
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
  • Experience supporting Windows workstations and enterprise hardware
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within cross-functional technical teams
  • Stable work history within large enterprise organizations
