Job summary

AmTrust Financial Services Inc. seeks a VP, Underwriting to lead the Midwest underwriting organization across 12 states, directing a team of leaders and underwriting professionals.

The role focuses on building a profitable commercial book, pricing strategy, and collaboration with agents, brokers and wholesale partners to drive growth. The position requires extensive leadership, risk assessment, and communication skills, with preferred CPCU certification and a strong track record in underwriting

Qualifications

• 8+ years of leadership experience with underwriting.
• Existing agent and broker relationships in the Midwest.
• Advanced risk assessment and product specialization.
• Ability to read and interpret complex reports and contracts.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead leaders and teams to underwrite a profitable book of small to complex risks.
• Analyze pricing adequacy and negotiate terms with agencies and brokers.
• Develop underwriting strategy, authority, guidelines, and portfolio management.
• Collaborate with Sales, Claims, Risk Control, and Actuarial to price and manage risk.
• Mentor staff, provide feedback, and drive performance in a fast-changing environment.
• Monitor market trends and drive profitable growth in the Midwest region.
