Job summary

Selective Insurance Company of America, headquartered in Short Hills, NJ, seeks an Assistant Vice President of Talent and Leadership Development to lead enterprise leadership development, succession planning, talent readiness, and leadership pipeline strategy. You will report to the Head of Talent and drive programs that strengthen the leadership bench across the organization.

As a trusted advisor to senior leaders, you will design, implement, and continuously enhance development initiatives,

Qualifications

• Experience with leadership assessment methodologies, including Hogan assessments.
• Certification in executive coaching or leadership coaching preferred.
• Strong consulting, facilitation, and relationship management to influence executives.
• Strong analytical skills using talent metrics and organizational insights.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead through ambiguity in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise talent review process, including assessment and calibration to inform succession planning and leadership development.
• Lead succession planning for executive and senior roles; monitor bench strength and talent risks.
• Provide strategic oversight for executive and high-potential development programs; coach senior leaders.
• Design scalable leadership development experiences (academies, mentoring, stretch assignments, exec education).
• Use talent analytics to assess readiness and report insights to inform workforce planning.
