Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with 8 years of healthcare facilities management experience.
  • Alternatively, Bachelor’s Degree with 10 years in healthcare facilities management.
  • CHFM certification or Professional Licensure (PE).
  • Extensive knowledge of facility, safety, and hazardous materials Codes and Standards.
  • Extensive knowledge of budgeting, cost analysis, manpower planning, supervision, and operational analysis.
  • Extensive knowledge of hospital building operations, capital planning and execution, and infrastructure.

VP- System Facilities Operations and Management (Job ID: 39040)

Biweekly Hours: 80.00

Shift: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

Founded in 1837, Cuyahoga County’s safety-net health system operates four hospitals, four emergency departments and more than 20 health centers.

Summary:

Provides facilities operational oversight for all owned and leased properties within The MetroHealth System (MHS), including hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, free-standing EDs, medical office buildings, and supporting structures. Oversees and protects the physical assets of The MetroHealth System by ensuring safe and efficient operation of building systems (electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, etc.) and provides in-depth knowledge of preventative and corrective programs. Provides vision, leadership, and strategic, operational, and financial oversight for MHS Facilities Management, including utilities, building repair, plant operations and maintenance, and infrastructure management. Provides direction and coordination for all facilities management services to support the mission and strategic objectives of The MetroHealth System (MHS). Provides operational oversight for the Environmental Health and Safety Department, ensuring policies and programs foster employee health and safety, compliance with Codes and Standards, and continuous accreditation readiness. Works collaboratively with MHS leaders to enhance the delivery of a full portfolio of services in a patient-centric manner. Ensures facilities and their operations follow applicable local, state, and federal regulating bodies. Participates in institutional planning, policy development, and problem resolution with other leaders. Reports on operational issues frequently and as needed to senior leadership. Serves as an ambassador for MHS and builds positive community relationships. Advances the organization’s position with relevant constituents and drives broader awareness and support for MetroHealth. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Master’s Degree in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and 8 years of management experience encompassing program planning and analysis, financial and operational management in healthcare.
  • In lieu of a Master’s Degree, a Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years of progressively responsible management experience encompassing program planning and analysis and financial and operational management in healthcare.
  • Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager (CHFM) or Professional Licensure (PE).
  • Extensive knowledge of facility, safety, and hazardous materials Codes and Standards.
  • Extensive knowledge of budgeting, cost analysis, manpower planning, supervision, and operational analysis.
  • Extensive knowledge of hospital building operations, capital planning and execution, and infrastructure.
  • Extensive knowledge of planning, design, construction processes, and contract development.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, mentoring, customer service, excellent interpersonal skills required, and experience in working with multi-disciplinary groups.
  • Highly developed oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to synthesize information from many sources to create, articulate, and implement planning strategies.
  • Capacity and initiative to function independently, assuming ownership and responsibility for projects, and the ability to follow through on assignments without regular supervision or prompting.
  • Leadership to drive projects and work collaboratively with diverse, cross-functional teams to achieve common objectives and deliver results.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and keen attention to detail and accuracy with an ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize work, manage timelines, and control project budgets.
  • Proficiency with the technology and media necessary to communicate in a manner that is open, accessible, and clear.
  • Discipline and composure are necessary to perform professionally within a demanding environment and navigate a challenging and ever-changing landscape.

Physical Demands:Ability to sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day.May sit or stand for extended periods of time.Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications.Ability to read job-related documents.

Preferred:
  • Master’s Degree in business, health or public administration, or health care-related field.
  • Knowledge of a public hospital system's core mission, objectives, and functions.
  • Experience with unionized workforces, both in operating and construction environments.
