Job summary

Fellow seeks a Vice President of Software to own the full software ecosystem, spanning embedded firmware, control systems, mobile apps, and cloud backend. The role requires leading cross-functional teams, setting technical direction, and ensuring scalable, reliable systems for a growing coffee hardware platform.

Based in San Francisco with in-office requirements, you will collaborate with the CEO and hardware teams to balance build vs.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience across embedded and cloud-native domains.
• Proven ability to scale an engineering organization from early stage to high growth.
• Experience delivering connected hardware-software products with lifecycle ownership.
• Deep expertise in IoT ecosystems, OTA updates, fleet management, and sensor fusion.
• Experience establishing modern development practices: CI/CD, automated testing, release management.

Responsibilities

• Scale the Engineering Organization: design structure, processes, and systems for efficient firmware, mobile, and cloud delivery.
• Set the Technical Direction: own the software roadmap across embedded, control logic, mobile, and cloud.
• Architect, review, and unblock production software across embedded, cloud, and mobile systems.
• Build Reusable Software Platforms: develop platforms, APIs, and services to accelerate future products.
• Raise the Bar on Engineering Quality: establish CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, and release practices.
• Consolidate & Modularize: lead modular architecture across repositories for future launches.
• Lead Cross-Functional Execution: bridge constraints and user delight, run software test engineering org.
• Increase Development Velocity: remove bottlenecks and invest in tooling and AI-assisted workflows.
• Own Delivery & Reliability: ensure predictable execution and post-launch stability.
• Hire and Develop Talent: recruit and mentor a high-performing engineering team.
• Strategic Leadership: align with CEO/hardware teams on long-term architecture.
