Job summary

Synchrony is seeking a VP, Product Security Architect to provide enterprise-level security architecture leadership across its application and SaaS ecosystem. This role defines standards, sets direction, and drives adoption at scale while partnering with product and engineering leaders to embed security into product strategy and delivery.

The VP will lead the Application Security Blueprint, influence multiple portfolios, and establish guardrails for secure-by-design software across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in security architecture/engineering.
• Demonstrated enterprise influence and stakeholder alignment.
• Hands-on knowledge of authentication/authorization, cryptography concepts, secrets management.
• Experience leading threat modeling and producing architecture artifacts (DFDs, trust boundaries).
• Strong knowledge of API security and OWASP risks.
• Excellent communication skills for senior audiences.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership for the Product Security Architecture function and multi-year roadmap.
• Set security architecture direction aligned with technology strategy, risk appetite, and regulatory expectations.
• Own and evolve the Application Security Blueprint with standards and guardrails.
• Partner with product and engineering to embed security into product strategy and delivery.
• Lead architecture governance: review criteria, design reviews, and remediation.
• Drive threat modeling at scale: define methodology and documentation of trust boundaries.
• Define API security architectures and service-to-service patterns (mTLS, quota, auth).
• Develop and report KPIs and security maturity for executive leadership.
• Coach engineers and architects to elevate secure design and reusable assets.
