Job summary

Synchrony is seeking a Vice President, Product Security Architect to lead enterprise security architecture across its application and SaaS ecosystem.

You will define standards, drive adoption at scale, and partner with product and engineering to embed security into strategy and modern software delivery. The role requires deep expertise in secure design, governance, and regulatory alignment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in security architecture/engineering
• Enterprise influence: set standards and drive cross-team adoption
• Expertise in application/service security fundamentals (auth, cryptography, secrets)
• Proven threat modeling and architecture artifact creation
• Strong API security knowledge and patterns
• Excellent communication to engineers and leadership
• Experience embedding security into product planning and SDLC
• Experience with SaaS security, SSO/federation, data isolation, audit logging
• Experience with service-to-service security, workload identity, mTLS
• Experience mapping architecture controls to policies and standards

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership for enterprise security architecture across applications and SaaS
• Set direction for security architecture within portfolios and align with risk and regulatory expectations
• Own and evolve the Application Security Blueprint and guardrails
• Partner with product and engineering to embed secure design and paved roads
• Lead architecture governance with review criteria and remediation plans
• Drive threat modeling at scale and document trust boundaries and data flows
• Define and standardize API security architectures and patterns
• Establish security patterns for distributed systems and cloud-native apps
• Develop KPIs and security maturity metrics for executive leadership
• Coach engineers and architects to elevate secure design skills
• Lead and develop a team of Security Architects
• Translate regulatory requirements into actionable designs
• Perform security architecture reviews and secure coding guidance
