Job summary

Synchrony is seeking a VP, Product Security Architect to provide enterprise-level security leadership across its application and SaaS ecosystem. This role defines the Application Security Blueprint, sets standards, and drives adoption at scale while partnering with product and engineering leaders to embed security into strategy and delivery.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in security architecture/engineering focused on application security.
• Experience setting enterprise standards and driving cross-team adoption.
• Hands-on knowledge of authentication/authorization, cryptography, secrets management, and secure logging.
• Proven threat modeling experience and architecture artifacts.
• Experience securing SaaS applications with SSO/federation (SAML/OIDC).
• Strong communication to engineers and senior leaders; able to produce architecture docs.
• Background in DevSecOps, CI/CD security controls, and software supply chain security.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership for product security architecture and a multi-year roadmap.
• Define security architecture direction for portfolios and ensure secure-by-design delivery.
• Own and evolve the Application Security Blueprint with standards and guardrails.
• Partner with product/engineering to embed security into roadmaps and delivery.
• Lead architecture governance: reviews, remediation plans, and risk acceptance.
• Drive threat modeling at scale and document trust boundaries and data flows.
• Define API security architectures including authentication, rate limiting, and input validation.
• Establish security patterns for distributed, cloud-native, and service-to-service systems.
