Job summary

Goldman Sachs seeks a Vice President of Software Engineering to design, deploy, and optimize database environments (SingleStore, MongoDB, Sybase) in Dallas. You will partner with IAM and middleware teams to ensure secure, scalable data platforms and lead SDLC integration with automated testing to deliver mission-critical workloads.

The role requires advanced DB knowledge, strong scripting in Python and Unix, and experience with cloud infra (AWS/Azure) and big data frameworks.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Information Systems or a related field and five (5) years of experience in job offered or a related role.
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Information Systems or a related field and three (3) years of experience in job offered or a related role.
Relational and NoSQL database technologies including MySQL, SingleStore, DB2, MongoDB or Cassandra.
Support and maintenance of SingleStore database environments.
Distributed systems and Big Data platforms including Hadoop (HDFS and YARN) and related data processing frameworks.
Python and Unix shell scripting for automation, monitoring, and ETL workflows.
Event-driven architecture technologies such as Kafka.
Database query languages including SQL or NoSQL and query tuning and optimization.
Cloud infrastructure technologies such as AWS or Azure.

Responsibilities

Design, deploy, and maintain SingleStore, MongoDB, Sybase and Cloud database environments.
Develop and implement best practices for database administration including backup and recovery, monitoring, and performance optimization.
Collaborate with identity & access management and middleware teams to apply up-to-date security practices in the database ecosystem.
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues ensuring high availability and reliability of systems.
Perform capacity planning and scalability assessments to support data growth and user traffic.
Drive improvements in database release mechanisms and SDLC process integration with automated integration testing.
Stay current with industry trends and advancements in database technologies and recommend innovative solutions.
Design, implement and maintain robust testing suites to enable safe, complete, and scalable solutions across business lines.
