Job summary

The Goldman Sachs Group in Dallas, TX seeks a Vice President of Software Engineering to design, deploy, and optimize complex database ecosystems including SingleStore, MongoDB, and cloud platforms.

You will lead efforts in database reliability, performance tuning, automation, and SDLC integration while collaborating with IAM and middleware teams to enforce security and scalable data services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a related field with relevant work experience.
• 5 years (Bachelor) or 3 years (Master) in DB design, deployment, and operations.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (MySQL, SingleStore, DB2, MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Proficiency with distributed systems, Hadoop, Python, and Unix scripting.
• Knowledge of Kafka, SQL/NoSQL tuning, and cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure).

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain database environments to support critical applications.
• Implement best practices for backup, recovery, monitoring, and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with IAM and middleware teams to enforce identity and entitlement controls.
• Troubleshoot issues, ensure high availability, and perform capacity planning.
• Improve SDLC processes and automate integration tests and performance tests.
• Stay current with database technologies and recommend innovative data platform solutions.
