Job summary

Goldman Sachs seeks a Vice President of Software Engineering (Reliability, Platforms & AIOps) to lead core engineering for highly reliable, observable platforms at scale. The role focuses on AI-assisted production excellence, SRE best practices, and resilient cloud-native architectures.

You will champion measurable health metrics, guide architectural decisions, and drive proactive automation across a large engineering org, balancing delivery velocity with reliability and security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.
• 7 to 10 years of experience in Software Engineering, Platform/DevOps Engineering, or Systems Design.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Understanding of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) including service meshes and ingress controllers.
• Experience with Linux environments, SDLC concepts, and algorithms and data structures.
• Knowledge of networking protocols and load balancing in distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product developers to architect highly available, fault-tolerant, self-healing systems.
• Deploy and optimize telemetry pipelines with AIOps models for anomaly detection and alerting.
• Develop software automation and self-service infrastructure APIs to reduce manual intervention.
• Lead load testing, performance tuning, and AI-enabled capacity forecasting.
• Establish clear SLOs/SLIs and translate health data into development priorities.
• Drive incident response using AI-assisted diagnostics to accelerate MTTR.
• Design balanced on-call and ownership models for production management.
