Job summary

Veterinary Practice Partners seeks a VP of Real Estate & Construction to own the capital program and real estate function across the network — from site diligence and lease negotiation through de novo/AcquiNovo development and renovation, with P&L accountability for the portfolio’s construction budget.

This is a build-the-function mandate: establishing the team, governance, and playbook, not administering an existing one.

Qualifications

• 10–15+ years of progressive leadership in real estate development and/or construction project management in multi-site environments
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or related field preferred
• Experience leading multiple concurrent ground-up projects with P&L accountability
• Experience negotiating leases and managing multi-location portfolios
• Strong budgeting, scheduling, contract negotiation, and risk management skills
• Experience building a function from the ground up, with governance and hiring

Responsibilities

• Own capital planning across the national portfolio and forecast the multi-market pipeline
• Lead site selection and market analysis for growth initiatives
• Manage lease portfolio end-to-end including negotiations and renewals
• Develop and enforce landlord-related policies and market rent benchmarking
• Direct construction projects from feasibility to close-out and manage timelines
• Lead bidding, contractor selection, and contract negotiation
• Refine facility design standards and development playbook for rapid openings
• Ensure regulatory compliance and risk management across jurisdictions
• Build and lead a small real estate and construction team
• Travel up to 25% as needed
