About the Role

We’re hiring a VP of Product Engineering to serve as the critical bridge between our CTO and our growing engineering, product, and project teams.

We’re a 28-person AI-powered B2B enterprise SaaS startup commercializing what came out of an industry-crafted and field-tested internal tool that helped scale one of America’s largest privately held companies within their industry. Now rebuilt from the ground up with a modern stack and bold vision, we’re poised to dominate a $30B industry projected to 6X in the next 5 years.

This role is not for everyone — it’s for a rare hybrid: someone who codes like a senior engineer, thinks like a product strategist, plans like a project manager, communicates like a founder, and mentors like a CTO.

You’ll essentially be a "CTO in training" and take ownership of what our CTO doesn’t — documentation, overseeing Jira and roadmap planning, cross-functional comms, developer growth, and AI integration vision. You’ll also be a key strategic thinker, helping transform architectural vision into executable roadmaps, while growing the systems and teams that scale us into a billion-dollar SaaS company.

What You’ll Do

• Translate CTO-level technical architecture into clear, structured documentation for project and product teams
• Own and drive strategic planning meetings with leadership
• Design and implement cross-functional communication flows to bridge engineering and business
• Own end-to-end execution of features from spec through deploy using our stack: React, React Native, TypeScript, C#, Azure, MS SQL, Redux, SignalR, etc.
• Collaborate on architectural decisions and uphold technical excellence across the board
• Develop frameworks and best practices for system reliability, performance, and scalability
• Build and manage detailed, strategic Jira workflows that align roadmap to reality
• Partner with our Senior Product Manager to scope milestones, prioritize features, and ruthlessly eliminate scope creep
• Interface with QA and TestRail for defect tracking and release QA

AI Ownership

• Define and integrate intelligent features using AI across support, analytics, and technician workflow
• Be the internal champion for AI-first product thinking — from fine-tuned models to practical implementation using tools like MindsDB, Azure AI, or custom LLM workflows
• Lead weekly developer 1:1s and sprint reviews with clarity and motivation
• Be a coach, not just a coder — helping developers mature, grow, and thrive
• Help recruit, hire, and mentor high-performing engineers

What We’re Looking For

Required

• 8+ years of full-stack development (React/TypeScript/C#/Azure)
• 5+ years managing or mentoring engineering teams
• Deep experience in Jira administration and strategic roadmap planning
• Proven track record translating complex system architecture into sprint-ready deliverables
• Strong communicator who thrives on ownership and autonomy
• Experience implementing AI/ML or integrating with AI systems (OpenAI, MindsDB, Azure AI, etc.)

Preferred

• Startup experience at Seed–Series B stage
• Prior work in FSM, ERP, CRM, or operations software
• Familiarity with mobile-first deployment and hybrid app architecture
• Strong product intuition and UI/UX empathy
• Experience with observability tools like Sentry, Application Insights
