Job description

We are currently supporting an established and fast growing 503A compounding pharmacy in Northern Virginia that is looking to engage a VP of Pharmacy Operations.

With a strong foundation in place, this is an opportunity to build the operating model for the next chapter of expansion. You will lead end to end pharmacy operations from prescription receipt through production planning, compounding, quality control checkpoints, dispensing and fulfillment, accountable for the department's people, capacity, financial performance and customer experience, in partnership with Quality and Regulatory Compliance and the PIC(s). This is not a caretaker seat for an operation that already works. This is a build and scale role inside a high throughput sterile and non-sterile 503A pharmacy, for an operator who wants to own the numbers and the next sites.

Responsibilities
  • Own end to end pharmacy operations so prescriptions move accurately, safely and on time
  • Build the management structure, set accountability and develop leaders across the department
  • Align production planning and priorities with order demand and required turnaround
  • Own procurement, inventory, facilities and the resources needed to meet demand profitably
  • Own departmental P&L, operating expenses, labor efficiency, waste and unit economics
  • Translate growth plans into multiyear operating plans and a standardized, scalable site model
  • Lead the launch and integration of new pharmacy locations
  • Set service standards for patients and providers and fix systemic issues from feedback trends
Required Experience
  • 5 or more years of progressive pharmacy operations leadership in high volume or complex operations
  • 5 or more years leading managers and holding teams accountable for results
  • Direct 503A or 503B compounding operations experience with meaningful sterile and non-sterile exposure
  • Financial ownership of an operating function including labor productivity, unit economics, inventory and P&L
  • Proven experience scaling operations through significant growth
  • Working knowledge of USP compounding standards, state Board of Pharmacy requirements and quality systems
  • Experience leading major operational change such as expansion, new site launches or automation
Preferred Experience
  • Led the transition from single site to multi-site pharmacy operations
  • Automation and pharmacy technology used to increase throughput and accuracy
  • Led a patient or provider customer service function
  • MBA, MHA or equivalent

This is a rare opportunity to build the operating model for a high growth compounding pharmacy and play a defining role in the next stage of growth.
