Job summary

Swoon is seeking an accomplished telecommunications operations leader to join a private-equity-backed fiber broadband company with ambitious plans to scale FTTH, SMB, and MDU growth across regions. You will oversee fiber construction, maintenance, dispatch, service installation, fiber locating, customer service, and billing to support rapid expansion.

The ideal candidate has 25+ years in fiber/telecom operations with 5+ years FTTH experience, strong leadership, and hands-on technical expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
• 25+ years of fiber/telecommunications operations experience including 5+ years FTTH experience.
• PMP certification or similar preferred.
• Experience as an installation technician is desirable and helps relate to field technicians.
• Experience across FTTH, SMB, and MDU broadband business lines.
• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Strong management skills including navigating change, HR issues, stress, and coaching subordinates.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all projects are managed within allocated budget and timeline.
• Oversee and lead OSP Construction Management, including HDD and aerial construction, damage prevention, QA/QC, fiber pulling, splicing and testing, and construction redlines.
• Oversee and lead Field Operations, including installations across all business lines, dispatch operations, drop bury, and locating.
• Oversee and lead Call Center Operations, including Level 1 customer service and billing support.
• Manage and support an internal Growth Committee focused on identifying edge-out and expansion regions.
• Lead weekly internal Operations meetings, including presentation preparation.
• Coordinate with Procurement and Warehousing to ensure adequate inventory supports construction and installation operations.
• Track and manage KPIs across the Operations organization for internal management and executive reporting.
• Oversee and implement a training and development pipeline to support cross-training and upward mobility within the organization.
• Support and reinforce the company's safety program, including ongoing training and compliance with internal teams and external contractors.

This organization is led by an executive team with decades of fiber broadband, infrastructure, and technology experience, and a proven track record of building and growing successful businesses.

The ideal candidate is a highly organized, hands-on operations leader with deep fiber technical expertise and strong people leadership skills, someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-growth environment.

This role oversees internal and external projects, fiber optic network construction and maintenance, damage prevention, dispatch, service installation, fiber locating, customer service, and billing, all in support of rapid company growth. The scope of this role will evolve as the company scales, and we're looking for a leader who will grow with it.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• 25+ years of fiber or telecommunications operations experience, including 5+ years of FTTH experience
• PMP certification or similar preferred
• Previous experience as an installation technician desired, this role requires being able to relate to technicians in the field
• Experience across FTTH, SMB, and MDU broadband business lines strongly preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills for internal and external audiences
• Strong management skills, including the ability to navigate change, handle HR issues, stress, and conflict, and coach and mentor subordinates
