Careerscape is recruiting a VP of Engineering for our client, a growing technology company, to lead the product and platform engineering organization in a hybrid role based in the Austin area. You will shape technical strategy, mentor leaders, and drive roadmap execution with product, design, and executive leadership.

The role requires 8+ years in software engineering with 4+ years in leadership, a strong cloud and architecture background, and a proven ability to grow teams in a fast-moving

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with 4+ years in leadership.
• Proven track record building and scaling engineering teams in a high-growth environment.
• Strong background in modern software architecture and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience managing managers and developing engineering leaders.
• Solid understanding of Agile development practices and delivery processes.
• Excellent communication with non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical vision and engineering roadmap in partnership with product and executive leadership
• Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing engineering organization across multiple teams
• Drive engineering best practices around architecture, code quality, testing, and deployment
• Partner cross-functionally with product, design, and data teams to deliver on company priorities
• Manage engineering budgets, headcount planning, and vendor relationships
• Establish and track engineering KPIs to measure velocity, quality, and system reliability
• Lead hiring, performance management, and career development for engineering managers and staff
• Evaluate and evolve the technology stack to support long-term scalability
• Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• Represent engineering in executive and board-level discussions
