Careerscape is recruiting on behalf of our client, a growth-stage technology company based in San Francisco, CA, for a VP of Engineering to lead its engineering organization through its next phase of scale.

This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who can set technical direction, build and mentor multiple engineering teams, and partner directly with executive leadership to translate business strategy into engineering execution.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with significant time in senior leadership roles.
• Proven track record leading and scaling multiple engineering teams at a growth-stage company.
• Deep technical background with architecture and design discussions.
• Experience hiring, developing, and retaining engineering managers and senior ICs.
• Strong track record setting technical strategy aligned with company goals.
• Excellent communication skills with executives and investors.
• Hands-on experience with modern cloud infrastructure and scalable system design.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy and engineering roadmap in partnership with the executive team.
• Lead and scale multiple engineering teams spanning backend, frontend, and infrastructure.
• Hire, mentor, and develop engineering managers and senior technical talent.
• Drive architectural decisions that support rapid product growth and system reliability.
• Establish engineering processes, metrics, and best practices across the organization.
• Partner with Product and Design leadership to align technical execution with business goals.
• Manage engineering budget, headcount planning, and resource allocation.
• Champion a strong engineering culture centered on ownership, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Represent engineering in board and investor updates alongside company leadership.
• Identify and mitigate technical risk while balancing speed to market.
