Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Denver seeks a Vice President of Development to lead philanthropy, shape long-term revenue growth, and translate strategic priorities into donor engagement across annual giving, major gifts, foundations, grants, and capital campaigns.

Reporting to the CEO, this role builds and mentors the development team, directs fundraising operations, and partners with executives to secure support from donors, foundations, and community partners in the greater Denver area.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of progressively responsible fundraising and development experience.
• Experience leading people and multiple development functions.
• Strong knowledge of Denver-area philanthropy; established relationships preferred.
• Experience supervising staff and fostering accountability.
• Ability to think strategically across fundraising channels and build sustainable systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; engage donors and leaders.
• Knowledge of donor management/CRM systems and fundraising performance measures.
• Bachelor’s degree; CFRE or advanced degree preferred but not required.
• Commitment to inclusion and YMCA values.

Responsibilities

• Lead philanthropic strategy and revenue growth aligned with mission and priorities.
• Provide supervision, coaching, and direction to development staff.
• Develop and monitor the Development budget and performance measures.
• Direct Major Gifts & Donor Relationships strategy and pipeline development.
• Oversee Grants & Institutional Giving and coordinate with program/finance leaders.
• Steer Capital Campaign strategy and execution in coordination with leadership.
• Engage Board and Executive leadership on fundraising priorities and results.
• Drive donor stewardship and engagement across channels.
• Collaborate with internal teams to reflect priorities and measurable impact.
